...hope you are too!
Take care of yourselves actors!
Eat well, sleep lots, wash your hands!! Treat your voice as the instrument that it is.

We hope that you are working on lines and lyrics between rehearsals.
You all must be off book when we come back from Spring Break.

In my opinion, the simple key to acting...

Acting is behaving truthfully
under imaginary circumstances.

Look! It's a blog post!!

Hello Cast.
We had a great rehearsals the last two Tuesdays- thanks for your hard work!

Next week you will be given an envelope to take home. Please return it with your donation.

WHY
is the most important word in an actor's vocabulary
-Sanford Meisner (influential acting teacher)

*Not "Why do I have to memorize my lines?",
but "Why does my character do this, or say that, or treat another character in a certain way?".

In fact, WHY does your character say their first line or sing their first lyric?

It's 2018, The Year of The Beast!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We can't wait to see you all again on Tuesday January 9th!

We hope you've been working on memorizing-
🎡BELLE
and
🎢 BE OUR GUEST

Remember that this means memorizing-
your lyrics (words)
AND
the exact places where you sing and where you don't.

The last rehearsal of 2017...

Image result for belle crying

Alright actors, we'll see you this Tuesday for one last rehearsal before winter break.
When we return, things will move very fast! Work on memorization over break, especially of music. Don't just listen to the songs, but know when YOUR SPECIFIC PARTS start and stop.

Please bring EVERYTHING you need for rehearsal.

*Choose at least one adjective that your character would use to describe
himself or herself.
(Yes, EVERYONE.)

Advice from actor Roger Allam

1. Learn your lines so well that you never have to worry about them.
2. Never go dead for a second on stage. Even if you are doing nothing, do it actively. Listen.
3. If something goes wrong – say someone drops something – don't ignore it. Try to deal with it in character.

What a puzzle for all of us is Belle

This week we will be putting the puzzle together.
We'll finish staging BELLE and then run it with movement and vocals.
I'd like to do it off book. 😲 Yes, off book.
That means you need to have your-
➸staging memorized
➸lyrics memorized
➸vocal entrances memorized

Also,
Vocal Section Leaders
Please review the Flatware parts for Be Our Guest.
We'll be working on that as well.

I love ensemble work.
I love making pieces and building things together.

DO NOT FORGET YOUR SCRIPT!!

🌟focus the specific point of attention on stage at any moment,
created by all involved in such a way as to purposefully direct the attention of the audience.
