Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr.
Carlotta
This is the maid from the castle, she is talking to Belle
Imagine, washing up like that on the beach. Must’ve been a horrible shipwreck! I don’t suppose we’ll ever know the truth. Why, you can’t even speak, poor dear! Well, never mind - after your scrub in the tub, you’re fresh as a daisy in a beautiful new frock!
Triton
King Triton is talking to a large group of people. He is moving between two very different emotions.
Benevolent Merfolk… welcome! It’s wonderful to see all of you here. Ever since the Sea Witch robbed us of our dear queen, celebrations like these have lifted my spirits. Thank you. (Lightening the mood) Well, what are we waiting for? Let the festivities begin!
Sebastian
The crab is talking to Ariel who he is very fond of and concerned for.
Now, I should march you right back to your father - (Ariel shakes her head “no”)… All right, child. I’m in. But we got to get that boy to kiss you before it's too late! Now, a few pointers from a clever crab to a little mermaid. You gotta bat your eyes, like this… (he demonstrates, she copies) Then you gotta pucker your lips, like this… (he demonstrates, she copies) Oh, that’s good! You put those two things together tomorrow and you got that boy in the palm of your hand.
Ursula
The Sea Witch is talking to Ariel. Ursula wants Ariel to take the deal because of what she herself will gain.
I have a spell that will turn you into a human for three days. Before the Sun sets on the third day, you’ve got to get dear ol’ princey to KISS you. If you do, you’ll stay human forever. If you don’t, you’ll turn back into a mermaid and your soul will be mine forever! Life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it?
Ariel
Ariel is with all her treasures from the surface world. She has a huge shift in emotion when her father enters.
(examining a telescope) And now let me see… what did Scuttle call this one? Is it a ditty-whumper? A thumb-doodle? Whatever it is… Prince Eric held it in his own strong, beautiful human hands - (King Triton bursts in, ready to destroy the grotto.) No Daddy! They’re my treasures!
Disney’s The Lion King, Jr.
Scar
Scar is responsible for his brother, Mufasa’s, death. He doesn’t want all the other lions to know, but he does want to be king.
Mufasa’s death is a terrible tragedy. But to lose Simba too..? For me, it is a deep, personal loss. So it is with a heavy heart that I assume the throne. Yet out of the ashes of this tragedy, we shall rise to greet the dawning of a new era - in which lion and hyena come together in a great and glorious future!
Mufasa
The King is speaking to his son and handing down important information that Simba will need to know when he becomes king.
You see Simba, everything exists in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all creatures - from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope. We eat the antelope, but when we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. Everything is connected in the great circle of life.
Seussical, Jr.
MRS. MAYOR
She is talking to her son about his daydreaming in school. She is worried about him.
But we've just had a talk with your teachers today
And they didn't have one single good thing to say
You invented new thinks which defy all description!
You gave Miss O'Dooley a nervous conniption!
We don't mean to scold you.
We love you, oh, yes, dear.
But couldn't you try thinking just a bit less, dear?
Disney’s Aladdin, Jr.
Aladdin
This speech comes near the end of the show and Aladdin has decided to be completely honest with Jasmin.
Princess, I have nothing to offer you. No money, no jewels, no lands. No special powers, no important friends. But, I will stand by you, and with you, no matter what. That’s the only offer I can make. Whew! (to Genie) Now that was hard!
Jasmine
She is talking to “Prince Ali”. She really liked Aladdin when she met him, he inspired her. Now she’s worried about him.
Do I know you? You remind me of someone I met in the marketplace. He was arrested. The one thing he wanted was his freedom. And he lost that, thanks to me. He’ll never come back, nobody escapes from Jafar. And even if he did, it would mean death if he ever showed his face around here.
Genie
The Genie is talking to Aladdin. He’s so excited to be out of the lamp and can’t wait to find out what the first wish is.
Oy! Ten thousand years in a tin can’ll give you such a crick in the neck! (cracks his neck) Okay, that’s better! Now then, “Your wish is my command”, yadda, yadda, you know the drill, so shoot… C’mon kid, what’s it gonna be? Cash, camels, Casbahs? You must want something, but no wishing for more wishes, okay? ‘Cuz that’s just so yesterday. But otherwise, you’re the boss. This is your lucky day. All your dreams are coming true.
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
CHARLIE BROWN
Charlie is full of joyful anticipation for the day ahead. Then something goes terribly wrong.
Some days I wake up early and watch the sun rise. And I think how beautiful it is. How my life lies before me. And I get very positive feeling about things . . . Like this morning for instance, the sky is so clear and the sun is so bright. . . How can anything go wrong on a day like this? (alarm clock rings) I'm late!!
CHARLIE BROWN
Charlie REALLY wants to talk to the red-haired girl and is giving himself a pep talk. Then he has a big change of mind.
I think I'll just walk right up to that little red-haired girl and introduce myself. I think I'll introduce myself and then I think I'll ask her to come over here and sit next to me. I think I'll ask her to sit by me and then I think I'll tell her how much I've always admired her... I think I'll flap my arms and fly to the moon.
LUCY
Lucy is convincing her little brother that she will be a magnificent queen, but her un-royal personality keeps pushing through.
Linus, do you know what I intend. I intend to be a queen. When I grow up I'm going to be the biggest queen there ever was. And I'll live in a big palace with a big front lawn and have lots of beautiful dresses to wear. And, when I go out in my coach all the people will wave, and I will SHOUT at them. And in the summertime, I will go to my summer palace and I will wear my crown in swimming and everything. And all the people will cheer and I will SHOUT at them.
SALLY
To Sally this is a huge life decision that she was victoriously able to conquer. And then something terrible happened.
I couldn't decide if I wanted fudge marble, chocolate, rocky road, or vanilla. I finally decided on fudge marble. Then I had to choose between a plain cone or a sugar cone. I choose the sugar cone. SO what happened? I walk out and drop the whole thing on the sidewalk. Don't tell me my life isn't a Shakespearean tragedy.
